As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you’ll deliver engaging lessons across all levels using the Centre’s program, support the smooth running of our aquatic programs, and create positive, memorable experiences for every swimmer. About You
You’re a confident communicator who loves working with people of all ages and creating positive, engaging experiences in and around the water. With strong teamwork skills, a friendly attitude and the ability to work independently, you bring energy, initiative and a genuine passion for teaching.
You know how to plan great lessons, deliver hands-on instruction and help swimmers achieve real results. Flexibility is essential, weekends and varied hours are all part of the fun and experience across different learner groups (from mums and bubs to adults) will help you shine. With your CPR, Blue Card and SWIM Australia qualifications or equivalent, you’re ready to dive in and make a meaningful impact as part of our Learn to Swim team.
The position's focus will be:
• Provide hands on teaching and ensure a correct and accurate technique is instructed, including preparation of daily lesson plan.
• Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times during lesson delivery and maintain flow and continuity of all programs.
• Ensure the lessons achieve positive results for students and parents/caregivers with a strong emphasis on correction at all times.
• Ensure teaching strategies are modified to meet the individual needs of each student within a class.
• Continual assessment and recording of students’ skill acquisition.
• Ensure swim program areas are safely and adequately prepared before each lesson.
• Show initiatives to improve lessons including keeping abreast of industry trends and standards.
• Attend regular workshops in accordance with industry requirements and attend staff meetings as required.
• Undertake daily roll call of all participants and maintain class control at all times in a professional manner towards children and parents/caregivers.
• Display a positive attitude to constructive feedback to help improve performance and student progress.
• Work under limited supervision and perform work of higher-level complexity, including undertaking a regular supervisory role as directed by the Learn to Swim Supervisor.
• Take on supervisor role, overseeing the delivery of lessons, when directed by the Learn to Swim Supervisor.
• Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
